Founder & Guide
Bud Wilson has 40 years of experience as a social and environmental entrepreneur, leadership trainer, educator, business, non-profit and community leader. After graduating from Harvard University with an interdisciplinary degree, he spent 10 years as Director of Conferences for Snowmass Village, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He supported programs and presentations by Margaret Mead, R. Buckminster Fuller, Jean Houston, George Leonard, Swami Muktananda and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche among many others.
Following his conference work, he joined the management team at John Denver’s Windstar Foundation on the 1,000 acre demonstration center in the Roaring Fork Valley. A highlight of his many contributions to shift and deepen the cultural conversation includes co-creating the “Choices for the Future Symposium”. A series of international conferences held in Aspen, Colorado to inspire citizen participation in solutions and elevate environmental and humanitarian consciousness. From the mid 1980’s to the mid 1990’s Windstar delivered numerous presentations of “The State of Our Planet” and introduced thousands of people to Buckminster Fuller’s World Game concepts. The vision and purpose was to create a world that works for everyone.
After participating in the Earth Summit and the Global Forum of Parliamentary and Spiritual Leaders in Rio de Janeiro, He designed and founded Eco-Action for Rotary International’s Preserve Planet Earth Campaign, bringing together business and professional leaders with youth to design community service projects based on ecological principles.
For more than 2 decades he studied and apprenticed with John P. Milton’s Sacred Passage and The Way of Nature programs, ultimately serving as the Global Director of Eco-Regional Leadership. During this time, he was the coordinator for the first World Nature Quest, engaging 35 groups in 17 countries and 5 continents to simultaneously honor Gaia.
He also served on the Board of Directors of Threshold, Inc.: Center for International Environmental Renewal.
Bud is a steadfast advocate for principles of deep ecology. He believes that regenerative human behavior is the next essential step for humanity. Restorative principles and initiatives must replace the standard practices of industrial growth societies. In his view, mere sustainability is inadequate to meet todays challenges. In keeping with this theme, he is the author of numerous nationally published articles on Social Justice, Peace and Environmental issues.
He was the Founding Executive Director of Earth Walk, Nature Centered Life Learning serving the needs of inner city youth in Denver with an after school service learning program and summer camp in Moab, Utah.
Presently, in addition to running Deep Nature Journeys, He is a volunteer facilitator for The Pachamama Alliance, Awakening the Dreamer events, whose mission is to bring forth a Socially Just, Environmentally Sustainable, Spiritually Fulfilling Human Presence on Earth.
